After purchasing a pack of cigarettes in a convenience store in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a counterfeit $20 bill, George Floyd was subjected to an approximately 9-minute attack by police officer Derek Chauvin, resulting in his death captured on video by a bystander, led to widespread protests and renewed discussions about systemic racism, police brutality and subsequently sparking numerous protests by the Black Lives Matter movement.
