As the dust began to settle after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, a realistic coronavirus appeared on a small wall, alongside the cheeky words: 'Buff this one!' A nod to the relentless greywashing of graffiti by city officials, this piece challenges the powers that be: if you’re so keen on buffing things, why not start with something that truly overstayed its welcome? The wall taps into that irony by jabbing the system—highlighting that, for once, there’s something we all want covered up. Approximately one year later, the painting was, in fact, buffed.
